CURRICULUM

Picture
The Ecology of Leadership's curriculum brings together a unique combination of elements, in which traditional leadership development content and a focus on what participants want to create in their lives and in the world, is combined with a focus on personal healing work (inner permaculture), remembering ourselves as part of a village/community body, and learning to source our actions from the heart.

The program follows an emergent pedagogical style.  We both have a clear outline and "plan" and we also respond in an interactive and co-creative way to the specific needs, wishes and possibilities present in each specific circle and in each given moment of the program. We do not give out an agenda or schedule for the program ahead of time - we instead ask for the circle's trust that the instruction team will guide the overall flow of the program and the introduction of new content in right timing, to best support each participant and the circle's overall unfoldment. Countless graduates have spoken to how this iterative process has led to lasting change and transformation in every area of their lives
(see Testimonials).

Most courses meet at the permaculture design site of Commonweal Garden in Bolinas, where participants share in an experience of village life and of deep connection with the natural world.  We camp together by the ocean, awaken to birdsong, and begin with gratitude and setting collective intentions.  We spend our days in various configurations of small and large groups, learning together in the yurt, and exploring the natural world.  We end the days together by sharing food and gathering around the fire.

The learning and support is enhanced by small group coaching, one-on-one buddy support, and practical application of the materials.
